Fallout TV Show Was Told to Exclude Certain Elements “Because We’re Doing That in Fallout 5,” Says Todd Howard

While Bethesda actively updates Starfield and has its hands full with The Elder Scrolls 6 development, plans for Fallout 5 are also on the horizon. The game is slated for release following The Elder Scrolls 6, and Todd Howard, Bethesda's studio director and executive producer, has already started shaping the narrative landscape for Fallout 5. Howard's commitment to the game's future narrative is so strong that he has actively engaged with the creators of the upcoming Fallout TV series, asking them to steer clear of specific story elements he intends to explore in Fallout 5.

Howard shared insights with Den of Geek, hinting at his advisory role with the TV series team. He made it clear that he had specific plans for Fallout 5 that he didn't want the show to preempt. This exchange underscores the collaborative effort to ensure the TV show charts an original course while the game series continues to innovate. Howard emphasized the TV production's aim to create a fresh narrative, likening it to envisioning what the next chapter in the Fallout universe could be, except in a television format.

Despite the distance in time until Fallout 5 becomes a reality, considering Howard's track record with long development cycles, such as Starfield's eight-year journey, the early planning stages are not surprising. Fans thus remain in suspense, eagerly anticipating what Bethesda has in store for the beloved franchise.

In the meantime, Bethesda remains busy with ongoing projects. The Fallout TV series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on April 11th, promising fans a new way to engage with the franchise. Additionally, Bethesda continues to support Starfield with recent updates, including a new Steam Beta launch and preparations for the upcoming paid expansion, Shattered Space, slated for release this year. An update for Fallout 4 tailored for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles is also in the works, demonstrating Bethesda's commitment to enhancing its existing portfolio alongside planning for the future.
