Minecraft is one of the most popular video games in the world, developed by Markus Persson and his company Mojang. The game is a sandbox video game where the player can create anything they can imagine. It is a sandbox video game that allows players to build with a variety of different blocks in a 3D procedurally generated world.
The player starts with nothing and must collect resources to build anything from the simplest of homes to the grandest of palaces and is never able to create more resources than is available. The game is a survival game where the player can explore and create destructible voxel-based environments and then watch it all breakdown and destruct.
The game consists of both survival mode, where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, and creative mode, where gameplay doesn't include the need to gather resources. Multiplayer is also provided for players to join servers or to play local split-screen with up to four players.
In Survivor mode, players must gather resources and build shelters to escape the night. There are a huge number of items and crafting items in the game. Players can craft items such as swords and pickaxes of various difficulty levels.
The graphics are very basic. The world is blocky, and the water is seen as a blue, smooth texture. The game is 2D, with the third dimension only being used for the height of blocks. Minecraft features a blocky style, reminiscent of the pixelated images, but has an optional high-definition texture pack for players to switch to.
Controls in Minecraft are very simple and can be learned in a few minutes.
Minecraft has high replayability because of the vast number of possibilities when it comes to gameplay. You can build different buildings or houses from the simplest house to the grandest palace. Or you can fight and survive in survival mode.
Minecraft is an open-ended game that is, in the words of its creator, “about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine.” It is a game that can be played simply for enjoyment, or in a survival mode in which the player must work at their own pace in order to avoid death and in which certain resources must be mined and acquired to progress.
